Cyprus : Armenian church prepares for first service in 50-years -
After 50 years, the first Divine Liturgy at the Armenian church of the Virgin Mary, in the Turkish-occupied part of Nicosia, will take place this Sunday.
According to an announcement by the office of the Armenian MP, the Divine Liturgy will be held at 12 o` clock noon, and will last approximately an hour.
Τhe Gothic church, on Victoria street, is located at the heart of the Armenian Quarter of Nicosia and was abandoned after 1964, during the inter-communal troubles.
Between 2008 and 2012 the church was restored by the UNDP-ACT and USAID funding, the anouncement concludes.
Cyprus has been divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion.
